The status of this recent surgical procedure is controversial and both the pro-life and pro-choice forces are united in their desire to outlaw it. Even though the focus on this topic sentence for paper about abortion will be on the mother, which should not be discouraged, the latter is just as important.In this article I will examine the procedure and the responses to it. Although the medical community does not favor this practice, they still believe it is necessary. Since the argument is still ongoing, I will present arguments supporting this medical practice from both sides of the abortion debate.Some of the concerns with the medical profession surrounding this surgical procedure centers on the question of how it could affect a woman's ability to have another child. The news media has presented this as a complete injustice to the mother. The medical profes sion would like to see the mother given the chance to be a mother and to carry a child or children in a safe and medically appropriate manner.One of the proponents of partial-birth abortion is Dr. Elizabeth Johnson. She holds a PhD in Biology and is a renowned researcher on the process. She maintains that even though there is a risk of danger to the fetus and the mother, she is not against partial-birth abortion.She states that many of the substandard clinics will not do this procedure for privacy reasons. She cites cases where two or more abortions have been performed at the same clinic, which means multiple women have the procedure. With so many abortions performed in a single clinic the chances of these instances happening have increased.She also cites the fact that most health personnel are trained in other procedures. That means many health personnel who are asked to perform abortions do not have the proper training. This could cause them to perform unsafe procedures or even un safe procedures.She asserts that this procedure is unnecessary and dangerous and that the practice of partial-birth abortion should be eliminated. She hopes that if people will open their eyes to the different methods being used then they can put an end to the practice of partial-birth abortion.
